Abstract

These studies were conducted at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology, Faisalabad during 2003 and 2004, Air dried and homogenous seeds of four varieties of sesame were irradiated with different doses of gamma rays viz. 10. 20, 30, 40, 60, 80 and 100 kR. M; and M, generations were raised during summer 2003 and summer 2004, respectively. Different types of chlorophyll mutants were identified in M, generation and frequency of mutants and effectiveness of each irradiation dose of gamma rays was worked cut. The highest frequency of chlorophyl mutants was observed in variety Ratodero-2 followed by VCR No. 5 and Til 89. Vindis type produced the highest frequency followed by xantha type mutants. The highest mutagenic effectiveness was estimated at 10 kRĀ
